North of France. Sports activities

  • Day 1 : Nausicaà :
  1. Morning : depart by coach from your school for Folkestone.
  2. Embarkation and Channel crossing via Eurotunnel. Disembarkation in Coquelles.
  3. Transfer by coach to Nausicaà to meet the ELS leader.
  4. Picnic lunch (not included in tariff).
  5. Afternoon : visit the centre, with close-up views of the sharks and the sea lions.
  6. Transfer by coach to your residential centre. Full board accommodation and dinner
  • Day 2 : Kite making and flying, and sand sailing :
  1. Morning : depart the residential centre by coach for a session of kite making and flying (weather permitting).
  2. Leave with your kite at the end of the session.
  3. Return to the residential centre for lunch.
  4. Afternoon : sand sailing with experienced instructors.
  5. Return to the centre for dinner.
  • Day 3 : Chocolate factory, bakery and Opalaventure :
  1. Morning : depart the centre by coach to visit a traditional chocolate factory.
  2. Then depart by coach to visit a bakery to see bread and cakes being made in a traditional French way.
  3. Return to the residential centre for lunch.. Afternoon : depart for Opalaventure, an adventure in the trees specially designed for young ones and dedicated to sports activities and nature lovers.
  4. Return to the residential centre for dinner.
  • Day 4 : Market, swimming and bowling :
  1. Morning : depart your residential centre to visit the local market with appropriate questionnaires.
  2. Lunch at the local crêperie.
  3. Afternoon : depart by coach for the swimming pool for a session of swimming followed by a ten pin bowling session.
  4. Return to your residential centre for dinner.
  • Day 5 : Bagatelle :
  1. Morning : depart your residential centre by coach for the theme park ‘Bagatelle’.
  2. Picnic lunch on site provided by the centre.
  3. At the end of the afternoon, depart by coach for Coquelles. Embarkation and Channel crossing via Eurotunnel .
  4. Arrival in Folkestone and direct transfer to your home town.

 

RESIDENTIAL CENTRES IN THE NORTH OF France

ETAPLES SUR MER :

Capital of the Pas-de-Calais canton with just over 11 000 inhabitants, Etaples sur Mer has a rich maritime tradition going back over 2000 years. Life in Etaples follows the rhythm of the tides. The fishing industry still employs over five hundred people whose ships are berthed in the nearby port of Boulogne. The residential centre “Le Flot” is open all the year round, and can house up to 65 guests.

MERLIMONT :

Known as the family resort of the Côte Opale, Merlimont has succeeded in maintaining its natural environment alongside modern urban facilities. The dunes of fine sand lie hidden behind the pine trees and under the beach grass. The residential centre “Les Argousiers” is in Merlimont by the Sea. It is available outside French school holiday periods and can take up to 94 guests.

STELLA MARIS :

Stella offers fine sandy beaches and high quality bathing facilities. Enjoy its invigorating climate and discover the seaside flora and fauna by exploring the surrounding sand dunes. The centre is open from the beginning of March to the end of November and can take up to 200 guests in en-suite rooms (W.C. shower and washbasin in the room).

BERCK SUR MER :

Known locally as « the town of kites », it hosts the international kite flying competition every year. With over fifteen thousand residents, Berck sur Mer is a lively and thriving town throughout the year. “Le Cottage des Dunes” residential centre is in the heart of the town. It has 178 beds and is open all the year round, except for the first two weeks in November.

LE PORTEL :

The seaside resort that faces the English coast, in the heart of the Côte Opale, Le Portel lies in the shelter of the port of nearby Boulogne. Its charm is in its pedestrian streets lined with shops, its bars and cafes, and its colourful market. Nausicaà provides a wonderful opportunity to learn about the secrets of the sea. The Mont des Couppes residential centre is up on the cliffs, and is open all the year round. It can take up to 95 guests, housed in five separate single storey buildings.

THINGS TO DO AND SEE IN NORTHERN FRANCE

Visit to a French Primary School, The English Cemetery, Bee and Honey Factory, Crêperie, Snail Farm, Montreuil and its ramparts, Agincourt, Nature and sea-based activities, the berlingot (sweets) factory, the lollipop factory, the Calais lighthouse, Discovering the farm, and “goûter” of farm products.
