Itinerary for a five night stay in LE MANS

  •  DAY 1
  1. Depart your school by coach for Folkestone.
  2. Embarkation on the Eurotunnel and Channel crossing.
  3. Disembarkation in Coquelles.
  4. Depart Coquelles by coach for the centre of Paris with appropriate stops for picnic lunch (not included in the price).
  5. Arrival to the “Bateaux Parisiens” : boat trip on the river Seine going as far as “L’Ile de la Cité” to admire “Notre-Dame”.
  6. Picnic lunch in the gardens by the Eiffel Tower.
  7. Then, depart Paris by coach via “Les Champs Elysées” taking in “l’Etoile” and the “Arc de Triomphe for Le Mans.
  8. Arrival in Le Mans and introduction to host families.
  9. Full board accommodation for 5 nights.
  •  DAY 2
  1. In the morning, depart your host families by coach to visit a local secondary school and work in partnership with the French students.
  2. Picnic lunch (lunch provided by host families).
  3. Le Mans, capital of La Sarthe, is famous above all for “Les 24 Heures du Mans”, a 24 hour motor race that takes place once a year.
  4. In the afternoon, depart the centre of Le Mans by coach for a guided tour of the race track and the car trial starting at 14:00 hrs.
  5. Then, visit the Musée de l’Automobile to see this magnificent collection of cars and other vehicles.
  6. Depart the museum by coach to meet your host families at the end of the afternoon.
  • DAY 3
  1. Depart Le Mans by coach for the ‘Vendée’ area and step into the fantastic world of Le Puy du Fou, the theme Park of French History.
  2. Full day at Puy du Fou to discover the Phantom Birds’hall, the Roman Arena, the mediaeval combat and many more breathtaking attractions.
  3. Picnic lunch provided by host families.
  4. New in 2010 : ‘Le Secret de la Lance’, the legend of a mysterious spear with amazing powers.
  5. Return to Le Mans at the end of the day.
  •  DAY 4
  1. In the morning, depart Le Mans by coach for Saumur, well-known for its castle, its horses and production of wine.
  2. Visit ‘Le Cadre Noir’ the most famous equestrian school for the French military.
  3. Then, discovery of the Bouvet-Ladubay cellars, one of the oldest house of sparkling wine in Saumur.
  4. Picnic lunch.
  5. Depart Saumur by coach for Tours to meet your guide.
  6. Guided tour of the Loire Valley and of Chenonceau, the beautiful Renaissance castle known as ‘Le Château des Dames’.
  7. After the visit depart for a one hour cruise on the river Cher taking under the arches of the castle and through two locks.
  8. Return to Le Mans by coach to meet your host families at the end of the afternoon.
  • DAY 5
  1. Depart your home stay centre by coach for Poitiers to visit one of France’s best known theme parks, the Futuroscope.
  2. Experience live action in any of the “Cinémas Dynamiques”, dive into the deep blue sea and come face to face with magnificent creatures with ‘Deep Sea 3D’, hurl headlong at 100 miles per hour on a fun-filled journey with ‘Dynamic Vienne’, canoe down the Nile, a feat worthy of the Pharaohs with ‘Mystery of the Nile’ and don’t miss the blockbuster attraction : ‘Dare to dance with a robot’.
  3. Or just admire the futuristic architecture as you wander round the park to visit as many of its attractions as you can fit into your day.
  4. Picnic lunch provided by host families.
  5. Evening return by coach to your home stay centre.
  •  DAY 6
  1. Early morning, depart your host families by coach for Saint Denis.
  2. Arrival in Saint Denis and depart for a 1 ½ hour guided tour of the “Stade de France”.
  3. See behind the scenes, where the teams arrive, the changing rooms, the tunnel… and what the public sees.
  4. Visit the “Stade de France” museum.
  5. Picnic lunch and departure by coach for Coquelles. Embarkation on Le Shuttle and Channel crossing.
  6. Disembarkation in Folkestone and direct transfer to your home town.
