Rouen is a city full of charming streets with strong historical associations with Joan of Arc. Its unique architectural heritage is superb and includes buildings dating from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The historic city centre where most of the monuments are located is a pedestrian area and is thus easy to explore
Among the highlights of the city are the Notre-Dame Cathedral, painted so often by Monet, the Old Clock Tower, the Palace of Justice and the Old Market where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. They are surrounded by an architectural setting of attractive streets lined with timbered houses
